SCOTT GILMER, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Scott Gilmer is Beacon’s Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. He runs Beacon’s day-to-day operations and those of its advocacy partner, Beacon Impact. In his role, he also partners with Beacon’s CEO to execute our strategic plan. With broad experience in public service and educational leadership, Scott was appointed chief of staff for the Tennessee House of Representatives by former Speaker Beth Harwell in 2012. Subsequently, he served in the same role for current Speaker Cameron Sexton. Most recently, Scott served in the private sector where he helped governments obtain greater efficiency. Before joining the Tennessee House as a policy analyst and later serving as Director of Policy and Research, Scott worked in higher education. Gilmer holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and political science from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a master’s of public policy from Vanderbilt University.
